Art Blitz and Blessed Failures

Okay … so I got myself accepted into too many shows this fall so I had to step it up and launch an art blitz.  It really sneaked up on me and I was in over my head before I knew it.  Fortunately I discovered that when one jumps into an art blitz one painting leads to another and the learning curve for me also kicked into high gear.  As a result failures were fewer and I got the shows covered.  Then I could step back and slow down a bit.  It was when I slowed down and a couple of failures hit that I knew for sure that things were back to normal.  Aargh!!  Those blessed failures!!

I resonate so well with what you say about "blessed failures" I also like your style, between representational and impressionist. I really do like your paintings of our beloved Montana. Maybe I resonate doubly for being in the same age group with the same "learning curve" and "being professional" as what I was reading from an article about you in the "MT Woman magazine" (If that is its exact title)

I don't have the marketing experience you seem to have (I taught art to children in an after school Art Center program) and wouldn't mind a few guidelines about how to approach Galleries.

Thank you ahead for your consideration
Most warmly,

Jacqueline

One of the first steps in getting a gallery to carry your work is to understand your art yourself.

I only found one example of your work on the web …. however it reminded me of Georgia O'Keefe's American modernism. So maybe you can take a page from her book when you package your work.

But getting in galleries is tough because art sales are on a real low road right now. You might consider showing at this fall's rash of church and craft sales. That may not help sales but it gives you a chance to talk directly to folks who might be your customers. You can find out what they like that way. Any information you can gather about them will help you as you strive for inclusion in galleries and sales. And have you sought membership in the Carbon County Art Guild in Red Lodge??

At one point I was floundering and sought advise and was told, "Don't get discouraged in this discouraging world (of art)." Some good advise.
